The restoring force value is under studyand final value will be available during the Final Design phase.
13.1.3 Test Loads13.1.3.1 Hydrostatic pressure testThe hydrostatic test pressure Ptest shall be the maximum value of: 1.43 = 7.15 MPa: not depending on the pressure-boundary material 1.25where:- Pdesign: Design pressure = 4.4 + 10% = 5.0 MPa- Sm (Ttest): Design stress intensity at test temperature 20 °C (Roomtemperature)- Sm (Tdesign): Design stress intensity at baking temperature 240 °CThe ratio shall be “the lowest ratio for the pressure-boundary materials”(excluding bolting materials, see SDC-IC [4] IC 3123.1 “Hydrostatic test”).
Pressure boundary materials in the mirror box are 316 L(N)-IG and 316L for thetubes. The values of hydrostatic test pressure, corresponding to the ratio for eachmaterial, are shown in the table below:Pressure-boundarymaterialsRatioHydrostatic testpressure [MPa]316 L(N)-IG 1.215 7.6316 L “for the tubes” 1.114 7.0Table 10 – Hydrostatic test pressure for pressure boundary materialsPage 19 of 34The lowest ratio for the pressure boundary materials is 1.12 for 316L tubes. So, the correspondingpressure 7.0 MPa shall be compared with 1.43 = 7.15 MPa.
It gives finally, that the hydrostatic test pressure for the 55.E4 mirror box shall be performed atPtest =7.15 MPa.
13.1.4 Coolant PressureThe coolant pressure and temperature in different operations are summarized in the followingTable (data derived from [8]):OperationPressure[MPa]AllowablePressure Drop [MPa]Inlet WaterTemperature [°C]Normal operation 3.3 0.64 110Baking 4.4 - 240Hydrostatic pressure test(§13.1.3.1)7.15 -20(Room temperature)Table 11 – Coolant pressure and temperature at different operations13.1.5 Seismic Loads13.1.5.1 Load categories of seismic loadsSeismic load excitation corresponds to the site for the ITER construction (Cadarache). Forcomponents that are classified in seismic class 1 and 2 (SC1 and SC2) three levels (SL-2, SMHV,SL-1) of ground motion are considered.
The classification for the seismic conditions is: SL-2: Category IV (Extremely Unlikely) SMHV: Category III (Very Unlikely) SL-1: Category II (Likely Event)According to Table 2, since seismic class of the components in the scope of this document isNSC (non-seismic class) and non-PIC, only SL-1 is required. For NSC components the seismicrequirement is defined by Eurocode 8 and associated French Order.
Category IV Seismic Loads (SL-2): SL-2 corresponds to the seismic level required by Frenchnuclear practice. In this event, it shall be demonstrated that all safety functions are maintained.
For ITER site (Cadarache) the SL-2 (also called SSE – Safe Shutdown Earthquake) DesignResponse Spectra (DRS) is defined by two spectra: SMS and PALEO spectra. Both types ofspectra (or the envelope) need to be analysed.
Category III Seismic Loads (SMHV): SMHV (Séismes Maximaux HistoriquementVraisemblables = Maximum Historically Probable Earthquakes) is the most penalizingearthquakes liable to occur over a period of about 1000 years.
An SMHV Seismic Event load is taken to be 0.73 of an SL-2 load, unless a complete SMHVanalysis is performed.
Page 20 of 34Category II Seismic Loads (SL-1): SL-1 corresponds to an event with a probability in the orderof 10-2 per year and represents an investment protection earthquake level (following theNuclear Pressure Equipment regulation it corresponds to a foreseeable event). The facility hasto be designed to restart and operate after an SL-1 event without special maintenance or test.
As this event has a return period of more than 100 years it is expected to occur only once in themachine life. If required by investment protections and the sake of project risk reduction, SL-1event shall be assumed to occur a maximum number of 5 times because, otherwise, no furtheroperation may be allowed after its occurrence without the additional demonstration that theplan has not degraded the safety level of operation.
An SL-1 Seismic Event load is taken to be as a first approximation 1/3 of an SL-2 load. Seebelow.
13.1.5.2 Floor Response Spectrum (FRS) in category IV (SL-2)The following paragraphs summarize the applicable response spectra at the location in whichthe component under study is placed for the SL-2 event.
The Global Tokamak Seismic Analysis report [2] calculated FRS (Floor Response Spectra) atseveral locations distributed along the VV and ports. The location of VV named points areshown below.

EM analyses using disruptionscenarios mentioned below will be carried out to calculate the distribution of Lorentz forceapplied to the E4 mirror box.
The most severe disruption scenario applied to the mirror box was selected from Divertor LoadSpecification [12] which gives summary of EM analyses. Regarding Category II event, thelargest torque occurs in the scenario “VDE II Fast Down with linear current decay 36 ms”.
Regarding Category III event, the largest torque occurs in the scenario “VDE III Fast Down withlinear current decay 36 ms”.
13.1.6.2 Inertial loads during plasma disruptionInertial VDE loads in the ITER Tokamak are currently under finalization. Prior to these loadsare baselined, IEA can, at the request of PBSs, define loads that can be used to create a provision.
(See Figure 17 to Figure 20.)Page 25 of 34Such provisional loads come from dynamic analyses performed on the tokamak machine undernon-rotating VDE II and III excitations, both symmetric and asymmetric (dashed line in figureVDE II and figure VDE III).
To cope with asymmetric rotating VDE excitations of moderate severity, the solid lines in figureVDE II and figure VDE III have been proposed, where the acceleration above the peak has beenflattened at the maximum value. In the case of VDE IV, the FRS curve is taken conservativelyas twice that of VDE III (see figure VDE IV).
Since the classification of the E4 mirror box on the divertor cassette is “non-PIC” and “NSC”,only VDE-II is required.

13.2.1 Nuclear LoadsA neutronics assessment has been made for the mirror box in [13].. The result is as follows.
TEM (high-quality molybdenum) based mirror─ Parts made of TEM (mirrors and mirror base plates): <2.34 W/cc─ Parts made of SS316 (plates for mirror box): <1.47 W/cc─ Parts made of Aluminium Nitride (ceramic Insulator for mirror): <8.88x10-1 W/ccThe analysis result of nuclear heat generation shown in below figure. (See [13] for more details.)Figure 21 – Nuclear heat distribution on E4 mirror box13.2.2 Plasma radiation heat loadsA plasma radiation heat assessment has been made for the mirror box in [14]. Some plasmascenarios (including both inductive and non-inductive) were assessed and a worst-case scenariowas identified. The maximum plasma radiation heat load is 0.701 W/mm2 on the outer plasmafacing surface (see figure below). However, note that these analysis results assumes 70%absorption. Page 29 of 34Figure 22 – Plasma radiation heat distribution on E4 mirror box (worst case scenario, assuming 70% absorption)13.2.3 Background Power due to Electron Cyclotron HeatingCalculations estimate that during start-up, background Electron Cyclotron (EC) power in thevacuum vessel can reach up to 40 mW/mm² per injected MW. In a worst-case scenario with asmall opening and blanket present, this could result in the output flux of 268 kW/m² for 6.7 MWinjected during 5.5 seconds. [22]The actual load on sensitive components depends on layout and surface absorption characteristics.
Although such high loading won't occur everywhere in the vessel, the estimated value should betreated as a conservative upper bound. And it is assumed as the background power. [23]13.3 Interfaces Loads13.3.1 Mechanical Displacement at Interfacing Points of Divertor CassetteThe displacement values of the divertor cassette during each state can be seen in [15] and areprovided in [16] to [19] as follows; At room temperature including initial loading (dead weight, preloads and internalhydraulic coolant pressure): [16] At operating temperature of the EoB (end of burn) of plasma pulse (7710 sec): [17]Page 30 of 34 At operating temperature of the EoP (end of pause) of plasma pulse (9000 sec): [18] At Baking (Cassette Body is at 240 °C): [19]The E4 mirror box shall be compliant with those displacement scenarios of the cassette body.

Besides, the load due to MFD is not really superimposed on the disruption load becausethe current decay of MFD is much longer than the plasma disruption. As for the DIM in-vesselcomponents, therefore, the loads due to MFD can be neglected.
13.4.2 Loads due to incident and accidentThe following incidents and accidents related to cooling water and vacuum may happen in thevacuum vessel:1. Ingress of coolant event (ICE)2. Loss of coolant accident (LOCA)3. Loss of forced flow accident (LOFA)4. Loss of vacuum accident (LOVA)The maximum pressure possible in the vacuum vessel is 0.2 MPa ([1]) in the cooling wateraccidents, which is negligible for the components that are designed to bear PLO, PLB, andinertial loads during disruption.
Page 32 of 3413.4.3 Helium ingress in the galleryNot relevant to in-vessel components.
13.4.4 Fire loadsSince it is specified that no fire event will occur inside the bio-shield according to Ref [1], fireloads are not applicable to the DIM in-vessel components.
13.4.5 MaintenanceThere is no information about the maintenance load; it must be typically smaller than otheracceleration load such as EM load and seismic load. It can be neglected.
13.4.6 Charge-Exchange NeutralsThe heating load by the charge-exchange neutrals (CXN) is negligible compared with the plasmaradiation heat fluxes. [24]13.4.7 Corrosion, wearing and internal vibrationThe mirror box has no moving and motorized parts, which means wearing should be negligible.
Also, no internal vibration will be generated. Being constructed fully out of stainless steel andother non-corrosive materials, while also being in vacuum so not exposed to oxygen most of thetime, also corrosion is expected to be negligible. Heat loads due to mirror cleaning operation areexpected to be enveloped by the other heat loads (e.g. baking or neutron heating).

4) As SL-1 event has a return period of more than 100 years, it is expected to occuronly once in the machine life. But as required by the investment protection, it shallbe assumed to occur at maximum number of N=5 times.
5) Unless a detailed dynamic analysis is performed and the number of cycles per eventis directly calculated, it is recommended to assume for each seismic event N=10equivalent maximum stress cycles whenever a fatigue or a cycle load analysis isrequired.
For disruption and VDEs, unless dynamic analyses performed showed that thestress – strain excursions during successive oscillations associated to theelectromagnetic event may be reduced, N=5 cycles per VDE event can beconservatively assumed.
6) For the cycled loads, the load is cycled between the operating condition with andwithout the stated initiating + concatenated event.
7) Selected VDE, this case was enveloped by Load Case 4. 8) Because the classification of the E4 mirror box on the divertor cassette is “non-PIC”and “NSC”, only SL-I is required.

The justificationfor using this code is that the components in scope are not plasma facing, and generally thenuclear load is small on them (see §13.2), so there no need to consider a code taking into accountirradiated material conditions.
6.2 Structural Design CriteriaBIR [5] specifies the damage limits applicable to the components on the diagnostic rack, and thedamage limits are given by Table 3.

The main direction and the nomenclature used in this load specification are shownin Figure 1.
Regarding the Floor Response Spectra (FRS), these are applied in the local cartesian coordinate(X, Y, Z) which are defined by referring to TGCS. In this local coordinate, the Y=0 planecorresponds with the vertical cross section of the center of LP02. The direction of Z coordinateis the same as the vertical direction in TGSC. The direction of X coordinate corresponds withthe radial direction of ITER. The direction of Y-coordinate is perpendicular to X, Z coordinates, and corresponds with the toroidal direction of ITER.

• Electromagnetic (EM) loads: volumetric forces and moments generated by the interactionbetween electric currents flowing through conductive materials and magnetic fields or bythe presence of ferromagnetic materials.
• Pressure loads: forces distributed over surfaces due to coolant fluid or atmosphere actingon evacuated volumes or external pressure conditions caused by accidental events.
• Thermal and nuclear loads, due to direct irradiation from the plasma or due to thepresence of radioactive/irradiated materials.
• Thermal loads due to coolant temperature or temperatures imposed by interfacingcomponents or accidental events.
• Assembly or installation loads due to pretension and live loads.

However, the pretension force value is understudy.
Some specific assembly and maintenance loads will act on the Diagnostic Rack and services andneed to be taken into account. At the time of the writing of this document these loads are notavailable yet.
For structural assessment purposes, those loads are assumed to be applied at a reference roomtemperature of 22 °C. The actual assembly temperature may vary depending on installationconditions.
Page 18 of 2413.1.3 Test Loads13.1.3.1 Hydrostatic pressure testAccording to tests procedure on the Port Plug Test Facility (PPTF) [11], the hydraulic circuit ofthe port components will be tested at 7.6 MPa at room temperature. Pressure test by a manufacturer will be carried out under the same condition.
13.1.4 Coolant PressureThe coolant pressure and temperature in different operations are summarized in the followingTable (data derived from [7]):Table 10 – Coolant pressure and temperature at different operationsOperationPressure[MPa]AllowablePressure Drop [MPa]Inlet WaterTemperature [°C]Normal operation 4.0 (-0.2/+0.6) 0.9 70 (+/-5)Baking 4.4 (+/-0.4) - 240 (-5/+0)Hydrostatic pressure test(§13.1.3.1)7.6 -20(Room temperature)13.1.5 Seismic LoadsFRSs due to seismic event at the interface points with the diagnostic rack have been provided bythe port integrator [8] and are shown in Figure 9 and Figure 10. These FRSs are due to SL-2. Asshown in Table 2, since the seismic class of the DIM components installed in the diagnostic rackis NSC, only SL-1 is applied for those components as the seismic load, Therefore, the seismicload can be obtained by multiplying factors of 0.33 to FRS of SL-2.
On the other hand, it should be noted that, a factor of 1.25 will be multiplied to FRS taking intoaccount the possible changes on building and VV support design as per recommendations of [3].
Ten equivalent maximum stress cycles shall be considered for each seismic event whenever afatigue or a cyclic load analysis is required.
Page 19 of 24Figure 9 – FRS (SL-2, 4% damping) at attached point with the front mirror unit (Side-low optics mirror unit and Central optics relay mirror unit 1) [8]Figure 10 – FRS (SL-2, 4% damping) at attached point with the mirror unit on back rack[8]13.1.6 EM Loads13.1.6.1 EM volumetric loads during plasma disruptionThe rapidly changing magnet fields associated with plasma disruptions induce electrical eddycurrents in the surrounding mechanical (metallic) structures which then interact with theremaining magnetic field, thus producing forces and torques. EM analyses using disruptionscenarios mentioned below will be carried out to calculate the distribution of Lorentz forceapplied to the E4 components.
The most severe disruption scenario applied to the LP in-vessel components was selected fromPage 20 of 24[9] which gives summary of EM analyses. Regarding The largest torque occurs in the scenario“VDE III Fast Downward with linear current decay 36 ms”.
13.1.6.2 Inertial loads during plasma disruptionFRSs due to plasma disruption at the interface points with the diagnostic rack have been providedby the port integrator [8] and are shown in Figure 11 to Figure 12.

The system on the diagnostics racks doesn’t contain active or moving components that generatestructural load during operation.
Page 21 of 2413.2 Thermal and Nuclear LoadsCoolant water temperatures and pressures are shown in §13.1.4 and summarized in Table 10.
Plasma radiation heat on the diagnostic front rack and the back rack is negligible, because bothare not plasma facing and generally the plasma heat load is quite small on them.
13.2.1 Nuclear LoadsA neutronics assessment has been made for the generic design of the diagnostic front rack andthe back rack in [10]. Figure 15 shows the nuclear heating distribution of the DIM componentsinstalled in the diagnostic rack and the back rack. Maximum nuclear heat load is less than 0.1w/cm3 at the front end of the diagnostic front rack as shown in the figure below. For aconservative approach, the maximum load of each mirror unit is applied to the entire system ofeach mirror unit.
Figure 15 – Nuclear heating distribution on diagnostic rack and back rack [10]Page 22 of 2413.3 Interfaces Loads13.3.1 Interface Loads at Interfacing Points of Diagnostic RackSome interface loads (temperature and displacement) will act on the diagnostic rack and servicesand need to be taken into account. At the time of the writing of this document these loads are notavailable yet. Preliminary assessment is under study and will be available during the PreliminaryDesign phase.
13.4 Not Significant Load Cases13.4.1 Magnet fast dischargeIn general, the electromagnetic load acting on the IVCs due to Magnet fast discharge (MFD) isconsidered very small because the IVCs are not electrically connected in the toroidal and poloidaldirection.
Loss of vacuum accident (LOVA)The maximum pressure possible in the vacuum vessel is 0.2 MPa ([2]) in the cooling wateraccidents, which is negligible for the components that are designed to bear PLO, PLB, andinertial loads during disruption.
Water hammer waves can form in the cooling lines as a result of category II LOCA isolationevents or category III pump seizure events. The order of magnitude of the category II LOCAisolation loads is a pressure gradient of 12000 Pa/m ([13]) applied on the wetted area of eachcooling line/channel segment. In the case of pump seizure loads of Category III, the loads areestimated conservatively assumed to correspond to a pressure gradient of 14000 Pa/m ([13]).
13.4.3 Helium ingress in the galleryNot relevant to in-vessel components.
13.4.4 Fire loadsSince it is specified that no fire event will occur inside the bio-shield according to Ref [2], fireloads are not applicable to the DIM in-vessel components.
13.4.5 MaintenanceThere is no information about the maintenance load; it must be typically smaller than otheracceleration load such as EM load and seismic load. It can be neglected.
Page 23 of 2414 Load Combinations14.1 Categorization of Load CombinationsTable 11 is based on the template provided in Table 4-2 of [2], and provides the damage limitsthat apply to each part in the scope of this load specification.

Dynamic Amplification Factors have to betaken into account.
2) Category II scenarios are used in order to reduce the total number of executions ofEM analyses.
3) The more severe load case between MD and VDE will be applied. As described inSec. 13.1.6.1, VDE is the severest EM load for the DIM components installed in theDiagnostic Rack. There for VDE is applied for the load combination.
7) Because the classification of the E4 components on the diagnostic rack is “non-SIC”and “NSC”, only SL-I is required.

2 ScopeThe scope of this document is the DIM LP02 ISS, PCSS and port cell components.
• The components installed on the ISS and PCSS are 55.E4 diagnostic equipment whichconsist of optical systems and shielding materials• The components installed in Port cell are Fibre box (storage or connectors), trays, andconduits with fibres.
• The components other than those on the DIM LP02 ISS, PCSS and port cell componentsare not in the scope of this load specification.
Note:• Shielding assembly on the ISS and PCSS are classified as a non-PIC, but Safety Relevant(SR).
• Components related to fibre bundle in the port cell are also classified as a non-PIC, butSafety Relevant (SR). because those components cross multiple barriers separatingdifferent fire and radiological sectors• All other components under the scope of this SLS are non-PIC and also non-SR.

Page 8 of 306 Codes and Standards & Structural Design Criteria6.1 Codes and Standards‘RCC-MRx 2012 is used for designing the component installed on the ISS and PCSS. Thejustification for using this code is that the components in scope are not plasma facing, andgenerally the nuclear load is small on them (see §13.2), so there no need to consider a code takinginto account irradiated material conditions.
RCC-MRx 2012 is, however, most suitable for rigid, steel components and less suitable forflexible tubing, such as the cooling pipes used for the spectrometers assembly and the fibrebundle. For this the ISO standards ISO 10380 “Pipework – Corrugated metal hoses and metalhose assemblies” and ISO 10807 “Pipework – Corrugated flexible metallic hose assemblies forprotection of electrical cables in explosive atmospheres or atmospheres where there is risk offire” are more applicable.
Based on the above-mentioned considerations the Codes and Standards approach used for thedifferent components under the scope of this SLS is given in Table 3 below.
For the spectrometers assembly, the cooling water pressure shall be considered according to theapplicable provisions of RCC-MRx 2012.

The main direction and the nomenclature used in this load specification are shownin Figure 1.
Figure 1 – Definitions of tokamak directions and global cylindrical coordinate systemPage 11 of 30Regarding the Floor Response Spectra (FRS), these are applied in the local cartesian coordinate(X, Y, Z) which are defined by referring to TGCS. In this local coordinate, the Y=0 planecorresponds with the vertical cross section of the center of LP02. The direction of Z coordinateis the same as the vertical direction in TGCS. The direction of X coordinate corresponds withthe radial direction of ITER. The direction of Y-coordinate is perpendicular to X, Z coordinates, and corresponds with the toroidal direction of ITER.

• Inertial Loads due to Seismic Events: Seismic load excitation corresponds to thespecific selected site (Cadarache) for the ITER construction. The ground acceleration canbe both in the horizontal and in the vertical direction and typically has a spectra contentwhich leads to some level of support reaction load amplification.
• Plasma Disruption Electromagnetic Loads (MD and VDE): Outside the vacuumvessel the actions derived from the electromagnetic (EM) transients should not lead tosignificant structural loads. For the DIM components on the ISS the EM fields could, however, impact the functioning of electronic components.
• Incident and Accident Loads: Correspond to accidental events during or outside theoperation of the machine. The most critical accident is a fire event. Otherincident/accident events that could impact ex-vessel components are pipe breaks andleakages near the ex-vessel components (ex-vessel loss of coolant accident or LOCA)leading to potential pipe whipping loads and potential internal flooding.
• Thermal Loads: Thermal loads on the ex-vessel components in the scope of this SLScome from the environmental conditions, where the highest environmental temperaturesare reached in the interspace during baking of the vacuum vessel. Thermal loads lead to(differential) expansion and associated thermal stresses.
• Nuclear Loads: Nuclear loads could lead to heating, damage and component activationof the 55.E4 parts and supporting structures in the interspace and port cell. However, specifically the heat load is not considered significant for the ex-vessel components.
• Interface loads: They correspond to loads transmitted through the surrounding structureslike vibrations and the relative displacements between anchorage points of the differentcomponents.
• Assembly or installation loads: due to pretension and live loads.

However, the pretension force value is understudy and final value will be available during the Final Design phase.
Some specific assembly and maintenance loads will act on the Diagnostic Rack and services andneed to be taken into account. At the time of the writing this document these loads are notavailable yet.
13.1.3 Coolant PressureThe structures under the scope of this SLS are passively cooled and heated through theconduction or radiation from the surrounding environment.
However, the spectrometers assembly installed on the PCSS requires active water cooling inorder to maintain the operating temperature within allowable limits.
Therefore, coolant pressure (TBD) loads shall be considered only for the spectrometer.
13.1.4 Seismic LoadsThough it is planned that the FRSs due to the seismic event at the interface points on the ISS andPCSS will be provided by IO, they have not yet been provided. On the other hand, the FRSs for the seismic event (SL-2) have already been provided by [9].
Therefore, based on the following assumptions, SL-2 is applied to assess the effects by theseismic event.
The FRSs of SL-2 are extracted at the relevant points of IS and PC on the Lower Port 2 inthe tokamak complex (B14) as shown in Figure 9. Those FRSs are not provided at the interface points with the DIM components because ISSand PCSS were not taken into account.
Considering the above, the conversion factors specified in [3] to convert SL-2 to SL-1 arenot applied in order to avoid underestimation.
The relevant points for ISS and PCSS are shown in Figure 9. The FRSs at those points are shownin Figure 10 and Figure 11, respectively. Ten equivalent maximum stress cycles shall be considered for each seismic event whenever afatigue or a cyclic load analysis is required.
Page 20 of 30Figure 9 – Relevant Points for ISS and PCSS[9]Figure 10 – FRS (SL-2, 4% damping) at the relevant point for ISS [9]Point for ISSPoint for PCSSPage 21 of 30Figure 11 – FRS (SL-2, 4% damping) at the relevant point for PCSS [9]13.2 Loads in Incident and Accident EventsAn overview and reference analyses for incidents and accidents are provided in the AccidentAnalysis Report [11][12][13]. In the subsections below the relevant incidents and accident loadsfor the DIM LP02 ISS, PCSS and port cell components are discussed in more detail.
13.2.1 Fire loadsAs defined in [2], internal fire is considered a Category IV event. As such:・ It applies to the fibre bundle as it is a non-PIC (SR) component that needs to maintainits confinement function during and after the event.
・ It applies to all other DIM LP02 ISS, PCSS and port cell components only to ensure non-aggression to neighbouring PIC components.
Fire loads should be specified as maximum possible temperatures in components due to theincrease of temperature in rooms.
The load temperatures, in case of fire, in the port cells, are given in Figure 12 ([14]). The DIMcomponents located in the interspace and before the bioshield (optical relay and compensationsystem assemblies, electrical cables internal to ISS and Shielding assembly) will be exposed at300 °C for 2 hours. Components in the port cell, but not on the ceiling (collection optics assembly, spectrometers assembly, electronics cubicle, electrical cables and optical fibre and shieldingassembly), will be exposed to 805 °C for 2 hours. Finally, components near the ceiling of theport cell (fibre bundle support structure, fibre connector/storage box and Fibre bundle) will beexposed to 875 °C for 2 hours.
Page 22 of 30Figure 12 Fire load conditions [14]For the non-PIC (SR) fibre bundle, however, a more conservative fire load should be considered, because in fibre bundle is likely to be outside the validity domain of the calculations presentedin [15]: As the fibre bundle is routed near the ceiling, it could be above or in the flame or in thehot zone a few cm from the ceiling. It is also routed not only in the port cell but equally in thegallery and diagnostic building.
Therefore, the (conservative) fire load to consider for the fibre bundle is based on the Safetyrequirement Roombook [16], which states for the locations in which the fibre bundle is located(B11-B1-C02)Table 11 Fire event loads for locations of fibre bundle as defined in the Safetyrequirement [16]Port CellB11-B1-C02ΔP (Pa) 5000T (ºC) Eurocode 2hHereby, the Eurocode 2h corresponds to a 2-hour exposure to 1000ºC.
13.2.2 Ex-Vessel Loss of Coolant Accident (LOCA) in Port CellEx-vessel LOCA has an effect on the DIM LP02 ISS, PCSS and port cell components and arelisted in Table 12 below. The values for the temperature and pressure load conditions for theseevents are taken from the Safety requirement Roombook [16]. They depend on the location wherethe LOCA takes places. As a result, the LOCA in the port cell itself (X8) has the largest loads inthe port cell, whereas the load in the gallery is less. The load of a large DV ex-vessel coolantPage 23 of 30pipe break has the lowest effect, despite being a category IV event, because it cannot take placein neither port cell nor gallery and has only a secondary effect there. The DIM components inthe diagnostic building are not affected by ex-vessel LOCA events.
Table 12 Ex-vessel LOCA events applicable to DIM LP02 ISS, PCSS and port cellcomponentsLOCA III – X8 Loss of coolantin Port CellCategory IIIComponentsaffectedFibre bundle (part in port cell)ISS/PCSS componentsΔP (Pa) 60000T (ºC) 145The (dominant) LOCA III – X8 event is described in detail in section 3.3.5 of the AccidentAnalysis Report – Volume II [12]Note that the LOCA III – X8 could be accompanied by an impact load on the ISS/PCSScomponents of DIM.
A local loss of coolant from the spectrometers assembly cooling system may occur, however itdoes not introduce governing mechanical loads.
13.3 Thermal and Nuclear LoadsThermal loads consist of the calculated temperature distributions from thermal analysis. Thepresence of thermal gradients will lead to thermal stresses that have to be considered in thestructural integrity evaluations.
The origin of the thermal loads used to calculate the temperature distributions in the region ofinterest is diverse.
13.3.1 Thermal environmental LoadsThe standard thermal load conditions in the rooms where the DIM LP02 ISS, PCSS and port cellcomponents are located are defined in [17] and summarized in below Table 13. They apply toboth maintenance, operation (THO) and baking (THB) conditions.
Table 13 Environmental thermal conditions in the rooms where the DIM LP02 ISS, PCSSand Port Cell components are locatedPort Cell(excluding interspace)T min. (ºC) 5Page 24 of 30T max. (ºC) 35The atmosphere of the interspace is shared with the Port Cell which itself is cooled by local aircoolers to keep its temperature below the above mentioned 35ºC. The temperature in the interspace, however, depends on a number of factors such as:・ The condition of the tokamak: maintenance, operation or baking・ The thermal isolation of the port closure flangeA detailed analysis of the interspace thermal load is beyond the scope of this SLS and will beprovided through upgrades of this SLS when available.
13.3.2 Nuclear LoadsA neutronics assessment for the DIM LP02 ISS, PCSS and port cell components has not yet beenperformed. On the other hand, that for the generic design of the diagnostic front rack and theback rack (in the LP02 port plug) has been made as shown in [18]. Figure 15 shows the nuclearheating distribution of the DIM components installed in the diagnostic rack and the back rack.
As shown in Figure 13, The nuclear heating rate in the rear part of the back rack is 1.0 × 10⁻⁵W/cm³ or less. The DIM components installed in the ISS and PCSS, which are within the scopeof this SLS, are located farther from the plasma than the back rack. Therefore, the nuclear heatgeneration rate in these components will be lower than this value. For this reason, the nuclearheat generation in the DIM components installed in the ISS and PCSS can be regarded asnegligible.
Figure 13 – Nuclear heating distribution on diagnostic rack and back rack [18]Page 25 of 3013.4 Interfaces Loads13.4.1 Interface Loads at Interfacing Points of ISS and PCSS componentsThe ex-vessel DM components under the scope of this SLS are anchored to either the ISS orPCSS (in 11-L1-C08), to the cable tray system (in 11-L1-02W) through several supports. In thesecases, apart from the maximum inertial loads seen by the component, additional stresses may beinduced by the relative displacements between supports.
Relative displacements between the attachment point for each component have been taking intoaccount for thermal loads considering steel for ISS. For Seismic events, these interface loads areexpected to be low due to the small distance between the nodes location in ISS used to extractthe FRS results and the attachment points of the components. Therefore, the interface loads forthe components within the scope of the SLS are negligible.
13.5 Not Significant Load CasesThis section includes events that may act on the ex-vessel DIM components, but those effectsare not significant for the structural integrity assessment. Events that don’t generate mechanical loads on the ex-vessel components are considered out ofscope and are not included in this section.
13.5.1 EM Loads Due to EM Transients and static fieldsElectromagnetic loads will occur in ITER due to transient events such as Major Disruptions(MD) and Vertical Displacement Events (VDE). Disruptions in ITER are simulated with theDINA code and the results of the DINA simulations for ITER are stored in IDM [2].
The specification of loads caused by EM events on ex-vessel components may be divided intoseveral parts:・ Volumetric loads from eddy currents (induced to conserve the magnetic fluxes crossingconductive parts in structures). Outside the Vacuum Vessel (VV) halo currents (interceptedby the plasma facing components of the first wall during the EM event and formingcomposite loops through the VV and the plasma edge) do not apply.
・ Dynamic amplification effects due to the evolution of the EM event.
・ Inertial loads associated to ISS/PCSS movements, who are also subject to EM loadsthemselves and transfer those loads (similar to seismic loads) to the DIM components. ・ Interface loads due to the fact that the ISS/PCSS are deformable bodies which could lead torelative displacements between the anchorage points of DIM components.
・ Eddy loops might occur in the components however the magnetic field in the interspace isrelatively low, therefore these currents are expected to be low and also the components maybe grounded to the ISS.
The EM loads due to EM transient only apply to the DIM components in the interspace and (tomuch lower extend) the port cell. The main fibre bundle and the components in the diagnosticbuilding are too far from the tokamak to have any impact from EM transients. Nevertheless, EMLoads due to EM Transients (VDE, MD, MFD) are considered not significant for the DIM LP02ISS, PCSS and port cell components, given the small magnetic fields and magnetic fieldtransients are the location of the DIM LP02 ISS, PCSS and port cell components.
Page 26 of 30Note that apart from structural loads, the EM fields – both static and transient – could also affectthe operation of electric/electronic components in the interspace and port cell. The compatibilityof the components and subsystems to the external magnetic environment must be taken intoaccount.
13.5.2 Loads due to incident and accidentThe following incidents and accidents related to cooling water and vacuum may happen in thevacuum vessel:1. Ingress of coolant event (ICE)2. Loss of coolant accident (LOCA) in Gallery and Diagnostic Building3.
13.5.3 Loss of PowerNot applicable in principle for the major part of the components. To be analysed if this eventcould damage any electronic equipment. Therefore, out of the scope of the SLS.
13.5.4 Internal FloodingFollowing [2] internal flooding (Category IV) does not affect the design of component in thetokamak complex.
13.5.5 Helium ingress in the galleryNot relevant to ISS/PCSS components.
13.5.6 External Loads Acting on the Nuclear BuildingsAll load events listed in Table 14 are reacted by the building in such a way that no loads are seenin these events by the internal components.

AccidentaltemperatureAlthough an airplane crash event can cause an internal fire event, anypropagation of fire is avoided through the collection of the fuel13.5.7 ECH stray radiationIt has been reported that the amount of radiation that reaches the vacuum window is low and notexpected to extend outside the vacuum vessel. Therefore, the ECH stray radiation is notsignificant for the ex-vessel DIM components.
13.5.8 MaintenanceThere is no information about the maintenance load; it must be typically smaller than otheracceleration load such as seismic load. It can be neglected.
13.5.9 Internal explosionThe category IV internal explosion events are only defined in the vacuum vessel (section 1.2.5of the Accident Analysis Report – Volume III [13]) and in the tritium plant (section 1.2.11 of theAccident Analysis Report – Volume III [13]), and are hence out of the scope of this SLS for theex-vessel DIM components.

However, as required by the investmentprotection, it shall be assumed to occur at maximum number of N=5 times.
2) Unless a detailed dynamic analysis is performed and the number of cycles per eventis directly calculated, it is recommended to assume for each seismic event N=10equivalent maximum stress cycles whenever a fatigue or a cycle load analysis isrequired.
For disruption and VDEs, unless dynamic analyses performed showed that the stress– strain excursions during successive oscillations associated to the electromagneticevent may be reduced, N=5 cycles per VDE event can be conservatively assumed.
